Meeting began at 7:00. We gave a brief history of UBCC/CLAC to the new persons attending, introduced Heather Poe of Water Tenders, discussed the re-opening of Cottage Lake Park on the 28th of May.

Susan Harper arrived at 7:30. She had prepared packets for all of us and had extras to be distributed at Woodinville City Hall, Woodinville Library, Chamber of Comm etc. She made note that Louise Miller is the King Co. Council Rep for our district and she has not made a public stand for or against the pipeline proposal. Nor does Susan think Ron Sims has made a clear statement of refusal to the pipeline proposal. (I tackled him on this the 28th and was assured that he personally is against the proposal and that the Pipeline Co will not agree to build to specifications that King County mandates so that will put end to it. He did not explain that the State can over-rule King County and that the Feds can over-rule the State.) Letters to the editor containing information from the packets would be appreciated. A position statement of opposition from community Councils will help…agenda item for June 8. CC to Gary Locke, copies to newspapers. Write or E-mail WA State Parks "don't host pipelines"

Content of meeting:

There is no shortage of petroleum product in Central Wa. Central Wa is served with plenty of gas products right now and the transport of product is in place. It was suggested that this move for a pipeline is to open new markets for companies not currently serving central Wa. The bi-product of refineries is "bunker fuel", used for powering ships. The increase volume of handling this bunker fuel=increased chance of spill contamination in NW.

Lobby WWD to not supply the pipeline Co with water to flush the lines of the proposed pipeline. The water used for this purpose will go directly into the Snake River as unclean water. Process is called Hydrostatic testing and the Water Dist. is in negotiations with pipeline builder to supply it.

Ron Sims ran an electronic poll with +1800 responses. Over 70% were against the pipeline construction as proposed. He could be more public in his opposition.

The delegation from Holly Hills had attended this same meeting before the Bothell City Council. They had prepared a "fact sheet" of their own that condensed Susan's presentation. I have a copy of it.

Bong arrived as the meeting closed.

Nancy to deliver the packets to City Hall etc.
