Sept 15, UAC sponsored a meeting at the library to discuss the King County Health Dept. proposed regulation changes regarding septic systems, their placement and maintenance. Jim Hendrickson did the presentation for the County. Attending were: Anne Jacratt, Paul and Pat Volkman, Marvin Elbon, Judy Westall, Jim Dansfield, Karen Mackie, Louise Miller, Steve Vertner, Gordon Clemans, Chuck Cushing, Michael Craig, Bob McCormick, Chuck Eberhart, Kevin Coughlin, Maria Cain, Nancy Stafford and Bong StoDomingo. Living with a septic tank, if you have a garbage disposal, use it occasionally to clear it's throat, that's all.
A film showing three different septic systems and outlining their use and maintenance is available thru the Health Dept. The Health Dept feels their enforcement is adequate as is. Regulation changes are due to new technology and State codes being updated from 1995.
See handout of who are the County Board of Health 14 members, 6 elected from KC Council, 3 from City of Seattle (5 at large?). Public comment period is until Sept 25, review and presentation to Council 10-16

Sept 22, 1998 Attending Bong, Maria Cain, Chuck Eberhart, Kevin Coughlin, Nancy Stafford.
Bylaws again, another disc to Bong. He needs to call a panel together to review them again. A copy needs to be available to the public at the Library and at the Community Service Office. We need an article in the paper showing the proposed boundaries of the UAC, telling where the bylaws can be viewed by the public and get comment on them. Note when and where we meet and ask for community participation. Maybe a flyer to all homes the Weekly serves if Carol can't do the article. Maria suggested Elfie Rohr as speaker for lake issues 746-4803. She requested attendance at the KC Council meeting 9/28 downtown, 10th floor, and 1:30pm for UAC update. Parking is available in KC garage.
