Upper Bear Creek UAC Meeting Minutes

Date: Oct 23, 2012
Subject:
Time: 7:30 – 9:10 PM
Location:  Woodinville Water District Offices
Board Attendees: Mary Filkins, Rich Lund, Jerry Hicks, Nancy Stafford, Kevin Coughlin
County Attendees: Marissa Algeria, Alan Painter, Brenda Bauer, Jay Osborne, Jon Scherer, Christine Jensen, Dan Pike, Mark Chubb

Meeting opened with community announcements:
New Deputies (3?) to be assigned to Northeast King County as of Jan 2013
Recycling operations to resume at Houghton Transfer Station in 2013
Decision from King County Council that the Urban Growth Boundary line in Woodinville area will
not be moved to accommodate proposed Woodinville City annexation of portions of valley floor.

Brenda Bauer and Jay Osborne of King County Roads gave a power point presentation on the 1,500 miles of roads, bridges, sidewalks, traffic signals and culverts that are their responsibility to maintain.
Revenue shortfall has necessitated a cut of over30% of their workforce by 2014.  This means shifting focus from improvements to safety needs, preservation and repair.  Storm and disaster response will be limited this winter.
Dan Pike of Records and Licensing told us our Cottage Lake Service Center will close the 1st of Dec., to reopen in Redmond City Hall that month.  This is an economy move.  Jon Scherer accompanied him.

Woodinville Fire & Rescue Dept Chief Mark Chubb gave a most interesting rundown on the evolution of the Fire & Rescue duties from putting out fires (3% of calls) to Emergency Medical Services (near 80%)   The new Chief encourages citizen participation with the Fire & Rescue Dept.  A fact sheet and surveys on Citizen Expectations, Customer Experience and a Citizen Budget Exercise were distributed.
This often “taken for granted service” is vital to our community; we all need to support it

Our meeting ran overtime (9:10) and we thank the Woodinville Water Dist for their patience!

Meeting adjourned at 9:10PM.  Our thanks to Woodinville Water District for opening and closing the meeting area for us.
