Upper Bear Creek Unincorporated Area Council

Serving 22,000 people in north-central King County

between the Sammamish and Snoqualmie Rivers and

north of Redmond and east of Woodinville.

The Upper Bear Creek Community Council meets the second and fourth Tuesdays of most months. The purpose of the council is to inform, assist and represent our community in dealing with King County government and other entities with respect to issues that affect our community.

In 2011, King County withdrew it's stipend support of Unincorporated Area Councils. The County felt that the six existing UAC's did not adequately represent the entirety of the county's unincorporated areas. Some of these UAC's have a long record of representing their communities in dealing with County issues. Upper Bear Creek Community Council is the youngest of them, with just under 15 years of service, and known for producing summer concerts at Cottage Lake Park.

In place of the established UAC's the Community Service Areas Project plans to cover all of unincorporated King County, serving as foundation for residents, businesses and organizations to have access to County programs and services, along with participation and engagement opportunities. Boundaries now exist for urban areas of unincorporated King County and Vashon-Maury Island, so the February 29th meeting at the Woodinville Library will focus on creation of boundaries in rural unincorporated areas. We hope to see you there!

Subject: Upper Bear Creek Community Council Meeting/Community Service Areas Open House
In place of the February Upper Bear Creek Community Council Meeting, please attend the CSA Open House scheduled for Wednesday, February 29th at the Woodinville Library regarding Community Service Areas.
Review and Comment on Proposed
Rural Community Service Area Boundary Alternatives
The county thanks everyone who provided comments on potential Community Service Area Boundaries during the initial boundary workshops in November of last year. The proposed boundary alternatives are based on that input. King County is holding three informational open house opportunities to allow interested rural residents, businesses and organizations to preview, ask questions and comment on proposed Rural Community Service Area Boundary Alternatives. Community Service Areas will cover all of unincorporated King County and will serve as the foundation for residents, businesses and organizations to have access to County programs and services, along with participation and engagement opportunities. Boundaries already exist for all of the County's urban unincorporated areas and Vashon-Maury Island, thus these meetings will focus on creation of boundaries in the rural unincorporated areas.
