Major Wills is assigned to North Precinct, which encompasses 750 miles, North from I-90 to Snohomish Co. line, West to Lake Forest Park and East to Snoqualmie Pass and has been with the Sheriff’s dept for 21 years.  He works with127 deputies.  He reports that drugs motivate 90% of crimes in our community.  Because of staff budget cuts, he estimates a response time of 21 minutes to our area.  In a perfect world he would add 10 more deputies to his staff. allowing 10 persons on duty each of the three daily shifts.  He urged each of us to know our neighbors and be aware of and report any suspicious activity in our neighborhoods by calling 911 and letting that operator field our concerns.  He is open to phone calls at his office 206 205 7654 or cell 206 423 7258.  He wants to hear any compliments or complaints about his department!

Paul Reitenbach’s specialty is Land Use Planning for DDES. And he’s currently working on ways to better serve communities with a Form Based Code intending to match communities with development that is compatible with existing development and needs…with attention to structures and their uses.  King County is using the Cottage Lake area for a Pilot Study of how Form Based Code would work in Rural areas….he gave handouts of that study to date and hopes to present his work to the King County Council before the end of this year.
Some Conditional and Special Use Permits will continue to be used.  He can be reached at 206 296 6705.

Fereshteh Dehkordi is the Rural Permit Coordinator and she gave information on the Proposed 2009 King County Process Improvements.  She encouraged us to use the King County Web site to find answers to many questions regarding permitting processes.  The “Hotline” for DDES is 206 296 2600, she can be reached at 206 296 7173.

The Upper Bear Creek Community Council Public Forums will resume in 2010 with the next proposed meeting on January 26th, same time and location.  All interested persons are encouraged to attend!
