Nancy Stafford opened with a few comments about last months All UAC meeting at the Avondale Bible Church in Woodinville and the purpose of Unincorporated Area Community Councils.

Matt Kuharic and Richard Gelb, both with King County Dept of Natural Recourses and Parks presented the proposed Climate Landowner Incentive Program (CLIP), giving background, intent, and challenges.

King County is considering ways to support and reward actions of voluntary landowner willing to commit to long term climate-related land management practices - addressing climate change mitigation and adaptation; in an effort to sequester and store carbon and increase ecosystem resiliency in the face of climate change. Compensation to landowners could take the form of tax reductions (as in the Public Benefit Rating System) or direct payments; actions would be compensation on a sliding scale based on degree of positive impact.

This program is still in planning stages; public awareness and input are desired.

Megan DeSantis gave an enthusiastic report on the progress of “A BetterAvondale’s” efforts to have a portion of Avondale resurfaced and will continue to keep the UBC updated. Progress can be tracked on their web-site ABetterAvondale.com

Upper Bear Creek Community Council is seeking additional board members who are asked to meet the 2 nd Tuesday evening of most months for planning. Interested? Please contact Nancy Stafford
