Date: March 27, 2007
Time: 7:35 – 9:05 PM
Location: Woodinville Water District Offices
Board Attendees: Geoff Clayton, Jerry Hicks, Nancy Stafford, Mary Filkins.
CountyAttendees: Paulette Norman- King County Roads, and David Spohr- King County Rural Ombudsman, Marissa Alegria- Community Services Representative
Community Attendees: Joel Lenox
Geoff Clayton opened the meeting as soon as the room cleared from the previous meeting! He presented a display of five types of “shoulder dressing” materials used by King County Roads and explained the purpose of each. Samples came from roadsides on Hollywood Hill and varied in size from crushed rock & sand to 2-3” rock ballast that tends not to wash away, staying where placed.
Paulette Norman of King County Roads brought a printout of the proposed Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) for our area up to 2011. CIP’s typically include six-year projections that can be added to or changed along the way. The current emphasis is on Safety and Preservation due to funding limitations. The Woodinville Duvall corridor is designated an Urban Connector and will receive study for needed left turn lanes ( Mink Road) etc. Waiting in the wings is a right turn lane to be added to NE124th, for traffic going north on HWY 202, the Red-Wood Highway.
Last winters storms cost KC Roads $12.7 million, about three times the normal winter cost. Attention will be given to updating and fine tuning traffic lights (using intelligent signals) and additional cameras on traffic. See attached.
David Spohr has recently been hired as the first Rural Ombudsman for King County. He is a lawyer who was active in land use areas in Utah before coming to Seattle. A Rural Ombudsman is neutral, a citizens advocate, acting as litigator/mitigator while seeking solutions to disputes or calling for a formal investigation of problems. The majority of his work so far has been with DDES Code Enforcement issues. He can be reached at 206 205 5061
The meeting closed at 9:05. Next public forum April 24 th on King County Parks. All interested persons welcome.
